Updating kitchen cabinets with hardware

Confessions of a Serial DIY’er has a great ‘how-to’ as does my gal Tamara over at Provident Home Design.

Choosing your kitchen hardware is a great way to customize the look of your cabinetry and drawers. The hand-painted archway, the cobalt blue and accent countertop tiles, and the decorative ceramic knobs all come together to give this kitchen an authentic Mexican feel.Stainless steel contemporary-styled handles and drawer pulls make an appearance, picking up the finish on the stove hood, stovetop and light fixtures in the adjacent dining room. You might be surprised to hear it, but I’m actually a huge fan of oak cabinets…that’s right, a HUGE fan. Well, unlike melamine, thermofoil and veneers, oak cabinets are almost always REAL solid wood. Potential for and today I want to add to those ideas with a few more thoughts… If you’re looking for a low-contrast look, antique brass is a beautiful finish with oak cabinets. The bonus is that most oak cabinets (if they have their original hardware) have hinges in this colour, so that’s just one less thing to worry about! If you’re making your purchase at a home center, bring the handle and dimensions with you.
